Notar Michael Becker DresdenMichael Becker was born in 1954 and is happily married with three grown upchildren. He went to school in East-Belgium and subsequently studied law at both the Philipps-Universität Marburg and the Julius-Maximilian-Universität Würzburg. After student exchange in The Hague and The Saloniki along with a four month internship in San Francisco he undertook the first state exam in 1978. He took the second state exam in 1982 and was admitted as a lawyer. Three years later he was appointed as a Civil Law Notary and one year later he qualified as a specialist in administrative law.


After the reunifacation of Germany Michael Becker decided to move with his family to Dresden. In December 1990 he was appointed as a Civil Law Notary for Dresden. Since the opening of his practice Michael Becker has practiced in conjunction with his colleague Dr. Peter Horn de la Fontaine. In 2001 they were recognized as official conciliation centre by the Saxon state minister of Justice.
As well as speaking English, Michael speaks French and Dutch. His language skills, along with a special interest in European legal affairs put him in good stead for work of an international nature. Currently Michael Becker is president of the I.R.E.N.E. , the European Civil Law Notaries Research Institute, aimed at promoting the international exhange of information between Civil Law Notaries. Michael Becker was also a member of the European Committee of the Federal Civil Law Notaries Chamber from 1989 until 2004. To this day Michael maintains a keen interest in European legal developments, particularly in the areas of professional and civil law.


Beyond his vocational activities Michael Becker engages himself in a number of varied areas. Thus he supports financially and idealistically numerous cultural and sporting initiatives in Dresden and the surrounding areas.
